In the search of a great coat

Still looking for a new coat.  The one on the woman in the middle had me wiping off some drool.

I’ve narrowed the search to this white one, though honestly, I’m one of the clumsiest people alive.  A felt tip pen or red wine would just be waiting to be introduced to such a jacket.  If there’s something to be broken or spilled, I’m your girl…so white may not be the best choice.

Then there’s this beauty.

Thoughts?  The two are very different, but right now, I don’t have any requirement except that a coat covers my bum, after all, can’t go around with a cold bum.

Well, the Lands End coat is a snow/bad weather coat to me. The J. Crew is more of an every day coat. If you already have a decent bad weather coat then I say get the J. Crew. It's gorgeous, the military-style buttons will be on trend for a while, and it's on sale!

Is that Crystal Renn on the right?

I vote for the station coat, just wear warm layers underneath. I own a white coat from land's end and I am not that happy with it and of course, it does get dirty all the time. (though it is washable)

I love the 2nd one, J.Crew coat is the best!

  6. I too seek a coat. Not an "everyday coat," not a "ski coat," and definitely not a "warm-weather coat. What I seek is The Coat.

The Coat is warm. As we live in Boston, this one is obvious. The Coat is black, because what other color would it be. The Coat is a wool coat down to there, because this is New England. The Coat also has a removable outer layer that is a waterproof black trench coat.

If you come across The Coat, keep me posted.

Hi there, Elizabeth. I got such a coat, and it's wonderful. It just happens to be vintage, cream, and cashmere! I'd hit vintage shops as well as stores…Sometimes, it's good to wait until just the right thing comes along.
