Keeping on Saving
When Savers asked me to style a fashion show for the opening of their Framingham store, I didn’t quite know what to expect. But man, oh, man the store is huuuuuuge! And as I pulled clothes and accessories I was flabbergasted that I could build complete outfits for under $60–including shoes, people! Oh, and jewelry too.
These days I’m only purchasing things that I actually need, and honestly, that isn’t much. So, I could feel my inner shopping-monster coming out as I pulled clothes and accessories that I secretly wanted to put aside for myself…but alas, I had to put my distraction aside and focus on the job. Below is an outfit I created for Emily. The whole outfit (accessories included–though in this case Emily is wearing her own shoes) was under thirty buckaroos. It’s nice to look good and not have to spend a gazillion dollars to do so.
In these tough times I’d love to know what you’re doing to keep your wardrobe fresh and interesting. I’m wearing a lot of my sister’s clothes, but that’s not exactly being creative as shopping in my own closet as most of my friends do.

I'm lucky in that I can shop for entertainment (though I haven't lately). I really want to stop by this place. Looks good for unloading and reloading!
We have Savers over here in Australia too! It's such a fantastic store.. and over here they give you a discount card to use in store if you make a donation. Not sure if they do the same over there but it could be worth asking
Love your blog by the way! Makes me want to visit Boston! (I'm in Melbourne, Australia!)

Hi Jac. Thanks for stopping by. I may make my way over to Melb this year, so if I do, I'll be sure to be in touch.
congrats, martini! the outfit looks great! i am sorry i didn't make it to the fashion show! i have been ascribing alot to the old adage, "mend and make do," which will save you money on one hand, but also leave you feeling really bored and on the other! i have been layering all of my jewelry on top of eachother and pairing shoes and belts ( that are say studded) with light dresses and skirts that would usually go with something lighter or neutral.
I haven’t read such an thought proviking post in a long time. You’re a gifted writer.
