90′s Revival
I was talking with a former colleague at a party once and she started waxing on about her tomato red platform heels. “You should see them, Tini,” she said, “they fit me perfectly.” You see, there was a sample sale going on at some boutique near her NY apartment, she saw the shoes at said sale and knew that she positively had to have them.
Once she brought them home, she put the box of shoes in her closet. She would take them shoes out every once in a while to ogle and pet them, but she would not wear them out. Though there was plenty of preening to be done with them on in the comforts of her own house. When I asked her why she never wore them out, she said, “Are you kidding? People would notice me.”
The people featured on the blog are looked at. In 2011, you don’t leave the house wearing an outfit and haircut inspired by the 90s without getting a few looks. The thing is, we’re always going to get stared out for different reasons. Sometimes for wearing fabulous pieces, and sometimes for wearing frumpy pieces. My thinking is, if you’re going to get stared at no matter what you wear, why not get stared at for wearing an outfit you love.
