BFW Gala Recap

We have family visiting from Australia and there has been discussions as to what they will wear to the Melbourne Cup.  Since last time I was there, I’ve been a tad obsessed with fascinators (see below), hats and strong hair styles. Perhaps that’s why my attention at Boston Fashion Week’s Opening Gala zoned in on those who looked fierce hair-wise and hat wise.

I had such a lovely time at the Gala! Fern Mallis gave such a lovely speech on her work and on the importance of mentoring. It was wonderful to see Ms. Mallis as well as some familiar faces (including some folks from last year’s gala).

I had forgotten the magic of primping and getting dressed.  I’ve been in flats for the past 9 months or so; I had forgotten how a pair of heels can transform one’s mood.  I’m not letting the good mood associated with dressing up pass though.  Honey and I have agreed to cook a special dinner on Sunday and to dress up for it.  Sure, our meal may be interrupted by a wailing baby, but maybe the baby in question could wear something special to dinner.  Hmmm…surely they make tuxedos for babies.  Have a happy weekend!

Turbans and hair wraps are everywhere this season. Even at NYFW. And the woman with the purple magenta lips has some stunning eyes.
