AdventureYogi Retreat: Norfolk

Oh, how time flies when you’re working hard.  I’ve completely forgotten to share this post from an AdventureYogi retreat I went to in February*.  And since I have photos to share with you from a yoga retreat I went to last weekend, I only thought it fair to share the February photos with you first.  Enjoy! x

It wasn’t at all a surprise that Honey suggested that we celebrate Valentine’s Day early this year.  In the past, we’ve always decided to do something special for that holiday either a few days before or after Valentine’s Day.  So the day before V-Day, I got all dolled up and even traded my flats for high heels for dinner at our new favorite restaurant, La Bonne Heure, on Abbeville Road in Clapham.  Aftewards we headed off to Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec for a night of jazz.

The next morning–on Valentine’s Day morning—I tripped over my luggage which had been set at the foot of the stairs.  Confused, I yelled out to Honey, “Babe, why is my luggage out?”

“Oh, that!” He yelled from the kitchen.  “You’re going away for the weekend.  You train leaves out of St Pancras 1:25.  A car’s coming to pick you up at 12:30 to bring you over.  You want some coffee?”

Needless to say, I was surprised yet pleased by my hubby’s generosity. You see, I love being alone.  Other than an hour here and there, I haven’t had a significant amount of time to myself in years.   Since my little one, Honey Bunny, came along, I’ve only been away from him for two nights and during that time it was because Honey and I went off to celebrate our anniversary.

So off I went on my surprise trip.  I wasn’t allowed to open the envelope that my Honey had given me with details as to where I was heading until 25 minutes into my trip to northwest London.

It was a yoga retreat with AdventureYogi.  My husband truly knows me better than myself, because a weekend walking about the woods of Norfolk or visiting Holkham beach is exactly what I needed.  And best of all, the yoga.  The YOGA!! At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the fact that I was going to be practicing four hours of yoga a day, but by the second day of our practice my body was in heaven.  And the food!  Can you believe that the man booked me on a detox weekend!  I myself would never have done such a thing, but the food was so delicious yet healthy that even after having had seconds and third servings of food three days in a row, I still lost a pound or two.

If you have a chance definitely go on one of the Adventure Yogi retreats!  Even if you have to go by yourself, try it out.  The ladies who attended and ran my retreat were simply lovely. A friend asked me if I was lonely going away by myself, and I have to say that even though I was alone, I wasn’t lonely one second of my trip.
