This one picture was taken during a very quick trip to NYC.  We went to the Brooklyn Flea Market in Fort Greene and man, was it hot. Cornelius, however was chilling in his gauze t-shirt, one that he made himself.  I could have done with some natural ventilation myself that day.

LaurenNYC0710blog

My friend Brooke has a collection of the prettiest blouses ever.  (I should mention this is Lauren in the above picture.)  Upon seeing Lauren, I thought, oh, that’s a Brooke blouse.

Since I’ve known Brooke, I’ve taken an interest in choosing blouses that are feminine with a bit of whimsy.  Brooke and some other friends and I have a standing date for oysters on a regular basis.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to take a few pics to share with you.  In the meantime, enjoy the lovely Lauren.  By the way, Laruen’s blouse is from Ann Taylor.

80s wonder

AlliNYC0710blog

Can’t Buy Me Love (the 1987 version) was on TV this weekend.  It was wonderful to relive that time, the fashion, the lingo.  Riding on my 80s high, I was positively delighted to run into Alli in Union Square in NYC the next day.

We immigrated to the US in 1986 so my impressions of the 80s (at least of the 80s here in the US) are full of wonder.  My mom would only let us watch TV on the weekends nonetheless, television offered a wonderful window into life here.  I’m enjoying the return of wonder; I’m enjoying the return of the 80s.

This is a picture left over from my trip to NYC. The first thing I noticed when I saw this gentleman was his scarf and coat. I’m now just seeing the striped gloves.
