Dr Vaswani
Friday, August 19th, 2011
Dr. Vaswani was walking down Newbury Street with his daughter on the day I asked him to take his photo. Out of everyone walking down the street that day, he certainly stood out. As I prepared for the exhibit, I had photos tacked on several of the bulletin boards around the house. My cousin, who is usually in jeans and t-shirt, said, “Oh, wow, check out this Cat! He looks good!”
After telling him about the exhibit, my cousin turned to me to say, “If this guy can wear a three-piece suit like that, I think I could too. Hmmmph! I guess blue and purple go together. Hmmmmmph!” And there you have it. Dr. Vaswani inspired my cousin, the t-shirt and jeans enthusiast, to expand his sartorial horizons.

Friday, August 19th, 2011Honey is taking a studio course at the New England School of Photography. He invited me to come pose for him one day. He gave very clear instructions: Turn sideways, then I want you to jump, throw your hands up, and levitate off the seamless for about 10 seconds until I get my shot. And there you have it. Me levitating.
The dress is Isaac Mizrahi for Target and the shoes are the Janae pumps (soooo comfy), a gift from Rockport. And the belt is from H&M.
Late in the evening

Honey and I had one of those nights where we went in with a distinct plan and ended up doing something completely different. I texted him: Drinks at Stella and then dinner at home tonight? He responds: Sure
We meet at Stella in the South End for drinks when we ran into Vaughn (in this picture) and his wife. I took Vaughn’s photo before rushing back to the bar to finish my beer and to hear Honey finish a hilarious story about his university years in Australia.
As we’re leaving Stella, we run into a friend whom I haven’t seen in forever and a day. As we’re talking to the friend, we get a text to join some other friends for dinner at Don Ricardo’s (on West Dedham) for a quick dinner. Sometime between dinner and going out dancing until the wee (early) hours of the morning, we went for a motorcycle ride around the South End on our friend’s new Harley. Fast forward a few hours and we’re Latin dancing in Downtown Crossing.
So there you have it. We were supposed to have a quiet night. It ended up being a long but very fun evening instead. Loved it!
