Does anyone know who makes the shoes from the above photo?

I just melt over graphic bags….graphic anything really.

My sister came to visit not too long ago.  And since London is a great place for shopping, one day, we went out to do exactly that.

My goal for that bit of shopping was simple.  Buy a leather coat.  Fast forward two days of shopping and I couldn’t find the exact leather jacket I had in mind.  I wanted a quilted jacket with a slim fitting that would hit at the hip.  Like I said, two days of looking with no luck.  Undeterred, I vowed to hit another part of the city until I found THE jacket.

Then on our way home I noticed that the girl who got off the tube before me was in a leather jacket. Walking out of the station I spied two young women chatting outside a Sainsbury Local.  They were wearing leather jackets.   A hip mom pushing a stroller walked down the aisles of Boots wearing….you guessed it.  And wouldn’t you know it, as we were entering our apartment we ran into a neighbor.  Yup, she too was wearing a leather jacket.

Apparently every woman in London wears or owns a leather jacket.  And I suppose, I just wanted to have the same spots as everyone else in my new herd.

Are white coats all over the place in Boston? I’m seeing quite a few people with them on here in London.  I didn’t ask Agata where she got hers, but I suspect it’s from Zara.

We were having dinner last Monday when a friend texted to say, “Have you heard about, Boston?” We immediately turned on WBUR to hear what was happening.  Bombings?! In Boston?!  What?  We reached out immediately to our friends and family.  Thankfully everyone was well, but still, it broke my heart to hear that people had lost limbs and worst, had died.

I felt bewildered, worried and afraid for my friends, family and fellow Bostonians.  Please know that even though I am far that my thoughts are with you dearest readers who are in Boston.

It seems so silly to post street-style photos at a time when precious lives have been lost.  So for now, I will share some this photo I took last year early one morning while at home.

What does one wear to London’s many street markets?  Come back on Wednesday to find out.

I live in this little corner of London that is so awesome, that I hardly ever leave.  Everything that I could possibly want from theater, to great food, to jazz clubs, to large parks, to french class and rhyme time for my little one is within a 5-10 minute walking distance from our flat (and yes, I’ve started to use British words such as flat, lift for elavator, and queue…when in Rome…).  And since my little corner is so wonderful, it stands to reason that other corners of London are equally as wonderful.

So, last week we went to Marylebone. It’s this piece of London that is not too far from Oxford Street.  It was nice to meander in and out of shops and book stores and observe the locals of Marylebone.  And since I only had about two hours in Marylebone, I’ll have to go back soon.

This past weekend, we went to Hackney and I took loads of photos to share with you there.

ps. I had a pair of buckle shoes like in the photo when I was about 12.  I’m now so obsessed them; I’m on the hunt for the perfect pair.

And once they are out there’s the mad rush.  What rush you say?  Surely, you’ve noticed the same photo of (insert your favorite fashion celebrity here) but taken by different photographers for various fashion magazines and blogs.

And once you’re done taking photos at a show and have ignored the attendees who are fake-checking their phones while all the while posing in the sight-line of several photographers it’s time to figure out how to get to the next show via public transportation.

Take a cab, you say?! Well, most likely if you’re a photographer, you’re freelancing. And if you’re freelancing, you have no budget for such a luxury. Even if you wanted to get in a taxi, that would be a bad idea. Have you ever tried to get around major cities such as New York, London or Paris during rush hour with 30-40 minutes to get across town to a show?  Case in point, the photo above of us all walking to Waterloo—at I think it was Waterloo.

When you’re in the ditches doing your job, it’s not fun.  But it sure looks glamorous from the other end, doesn’t it.  Here are some photos of photographers at London Fashion Week who were spotted by The Guardian who make it look easy.  I’m listed among the photographers…..Not my favorite picture of myself.  But since I got off the plane from Australia less than 24 hours before and had hours to complete a freelance job before picking up Honey Bunny from the sitter, I’mma be easy on myself for barely having time to put on lipstick that day.
